I have used Eas圜AD and FastCAD by Evolution Computing all the way back to the DOS 3 versions. They are basic, 2D drafting programs that run in Windows, including Windows 8. I started when the DOS version of Eas圜AD was about $50 and have upgraded many times as new versions were released. There are several things that I like about them. First is that they really are easy to learn. I was making drawings with my first copy of Eas圜AD after only an hour or two of getting familiar. Unlike other CAD programs, like AutoCAD which I also had used, it really was easy to learn. The second thing that I really like is that the company, Evolution Computing, maintains a forum for the users. AND the head programmer actually reads the posts. His name is Mike Riddle (mriddle on the forum) and you can see how attentive he is here: And he asks the users about how features should be implemented, how they should work. I don't know if it happens often, or even if it has ever happened again or before, but I once posted a problem with Eas圜AD and he had a fix for it in a revised version of the program posted on their sales site the very next day. I have never seen any other software company solve a problem so fast. NEVER! Try that with AutoCAD and see where you get.Ī third thing I like is you can write macros to draw things or perform actions that you need frequently. I have written a series of such macros that allow me to quickly draw things like bolt circles, ovals, polygons by a variety of factors, etc.
